Street vendors are vital to the local economies of neighborhoods throughout California. From fresh fruit to L.A.’s famous hot dogs, the food and resources that street vendors provide both feed and sustain our communities.

Here’s the problem: the permits required to vend legally are nearly impossible to secure and the fees from permitting issues can cost a family their livelihood. That’s by design.

Senate Bill 972 can fix this.

Governor Newsom’s stamp of approval is the final step in getting protections for street vendors signed into law.

Can you tell Governor Newsom to stand by his colleagues in the state legislature and sign SB 972 into law? This bill would modernize the state’s food code, protect street vending, and bolster the hardworking vendors that contribute to the culture and vitality of our state.
